Event on Ecumenism and Methodist-Catholic Dialogue – 25 June 2026
H.E. Archbishop Shane Mackinlay of Brisbane, Australia, will speak about ecumenism and Methodist-Roman Catholic dialogue on Thursday, 25 June at 19:00 at the Oratory of Francis Xavier of Caravita, located at Via del Caravita 7, 00186 Rome.
Abp. Shane was appointed the 7th Archbishop of Brisbane by Pope Leo XIV on 18 June 2025. He was the Bishop of Sandhurst in the Australian state of Victoria from 2019 until his translation to Brisbane last year. Since 2022 Abp. Shane is the Catholic co-chair of the Joint Commission for Dialogue between the World Methodist Council and the Roman Catholic Church, colloquially called the Methodist-Roman Catholic International Commission. During the Synod on Synodality, Abp. Shane was elected to represent Oceania on the Final Document Commission. Read his full biography on the Archdiocese website.

The World Methodist Council hosted three special webinars to mark the 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea and the Nicene-Constantinopolitan Creed as scholars reflect on the anniversary and the role of the creed in the 21st century.
